The retired NBA star Paul Pierce has bagged a buyer for his Calabasas, CA, compound, the Los Angeles Times reported. The deal closed for $8.7 million.
The Boston Celtics legend was shooting for a substantial profit over his 2009 purchase price of $6.5 million. He initially listed the mansion for $11 million last year, but then dropped the price to $10 million earlier this year.
A buyer managed to shave even more off the price, scoring a sweet deal.
Set behind gates in the celebrity enclave known as The Estates at the Oaks, the 16,100-square-foot Mediterranean was once owned by Michael Jackson, according to Architectural Digest.
The salmon-hued abode is set on almost an acre, and features an attached guesthouse, along with a total of eight bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.
Pierce, a long-time member of the Celtics, had tricked out the place with his former team’s logo, which is emblazoned on the bowling alley and the outdoor basketball court, both added under his ownership.
The grand space offers an entry through massive front doors to a two-story foyer. The interior layout includes formal and informal dining areas, a living room, a chef’s kitchen, and a great room. Walls of glass allow for sweeping city views. Other perks include a home theater, bar, billiard-room, and gym.
The landscaped outdoor space includes a pool, a total of two spas, an outdoor dining area, and a fire pit, surrounded by tall greenery for privacy.
Born in Oakland, the stand-out player made All-American in high school and earned All-America honors while at Kansas. Known as “the Truth,” Pierce was the 10th overall draft pick in 1998, spending the first 15 seasons of his 19-year career with the Celtics, and helping the team to win the NBA championship in 2008.
The 10-time All Star also had stints with the Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards, and the Los Angeles Clippers.
Most recently, Pierce, 43, served as an analyst for ESPN on “The Jump” and “NBA Countdown.” He was fired from the network earlier this year after he posted an eyebrow-raising Instagram Live video.
Joshua Altman with Douglas Elliman held the listing.
