Oscar winner Julianne Moore and her husband, director Bart Freundlich, have finally parted with a charming cottage in Montauk, NY, the Real Deal reports.
First listed six years ago, the home was finally sold for $2.85 million.
The couple had purchased the picturesque property in 2007 for $1.05 million.
But the couple quickly vacated the property after finding a drunken stranger asleep on their couch in 2015, the New York Post reported at the time.
The duo have since purchased a more secure, gated mansion in town.
The smaller home came off the market about a year after it was initially listed for $3.5 million. But during the pandemic-fueled real estate rush in the Hamptons, the vacation spot returned to the market last fall for $2.85 million.
Overlooking Fort Pond, the modest 1,000-square-foot abode offers three bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. The updated, farmhouse design includes details like antique barn-wood floors, a wood-burning fireplace, and a screened porch overlooking the water. The half-acre property borders a nature preserve on its western boundary.
Shortly after buying the home, the couple embarked on a renovation, adding a saltwater gunite pool as well as a pool house.
The beamed and vaulted living area features a painted brick fireplace and built-in shelves, and sits opposite the updated kitchen.
Built along one windowed wall, the eat-in kitchen incorporates room for a dining table, and features butcher block counters, lower cabinets for storage, as well as open shelving. Out on the screened porch, dining and lounging can take place all summer long.
The three bedrooms make for flexible space, to be used as guest beds or as office space. And the large, full bathroom includes a claw-foot tub, separate shower, and black-and-white checkerboard flooring.
The home is centrally located near the ocean beach and village, and residents can partake in paddleboarding, swimming, or sailing from the backyard.
Moore’s talents have been showcased in blockbusters like “The Lost World: Jurassic Park,” as well as independent films like “Boogie Nights,” “The Hours,” and “Still Alice,” for which she won an Academy Award. She and Freundlich collaborated on the 2019 release “After the Wedding,” which he directed and she starred in, and they both produced.
