With a sizzling-hot film scene that includes—among other nighttime dramas—the production of “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago Med,” and “Chicago P.D.,” Hollywood stars have set their sights on the local housing stock in the Windy City.
The latest shift? The actress Sophia Bush, who previously starred in “Chicago P.D.” and “One Tree Hill,” has listed her Chicago loft in the tony West Loop, an area where other actors in the NBC-connected series also have homes.
The condo is now being offered for $2.1 million—the latest discount on its initial asking price of $2.5 million last spring. The three-bedroom, three-bath pad is located at Acorn Lofts, a six-story, 57-unit condo building with a structure that was built in 1902.
According to Crain’s Chicago Business, Bush, 37, is the seller. She bought the 3,500-square-foot loft for $1.6 million in 2015, listing it for $2.5 million in March last year, before dropping the price twice.
This posh penthouse is perfect for a person who loves color, wide-open floor plans, and entertaining. Exposed-brick walls are emblematic of the West Loop’s transition in recent years from historic warehouses to trendy restaurants, cafes, art galleries, and living spaces.
White-oak floors, 12-foot timber ceilings, and skylights will make this a fab spot for a busy executive—or for another TV or film star—to unwind.
In the kitchen are blue cabinets, a Sub-Zero stove, and marble countertops. Overhead, translucent orb-shaped pendant lighting gleams. Other perks include stainless-steel appliances and temperature-controlled wine storage.
In addition to a dining room, there’s a cozy breakfast nook. The master bedroom is spacious enough to include a home office, while a wall of windows coaxes in natural light.
Walnut-hued wood shelving in the giant walk-in closet just off the master bathroom will appeal to fashionistas, and it also works for Chicago’s four-season climate, where one’s wardrobe must shift with the seasons.
The master bathroom is deeply luxurious, with a soaking tub and walk-in shower, and even a bejeweled chandelier. In one of the other three baths, funky patterns are key, with a jade-green floor design, and a walk-in shower awash in black-and-white tile.
A midcentury-style wooden vanity completes the mod look. The dramatic black third bathroom has patterned wallpaper and a fun factor: a shower concealed behind a hidden door.
The colorful interior decor is apparently the result of the star’s collaboration with a local designer, Elle Decor reports.
Other rare amenities for condo living? A private rooftop deck with killer views of Chicago, and a huge private laundry room with custom built-ins. The unit also comes with two parking spots in a garage.
Bush starred in “One Tree Hill ” from 2003 to 2012. She played Detective Erin Lindsay in the police procedural drama “Chicago P.D.,” from 2014 to 2017. She recently made headlines for embarking on a renovation of a Los Angeles bungalow.
Vincent Anzalone of Dream Town Realty holds the listing.
