It’s hard to believe the man behind much of Linkin Park’s moody metal called such a sunny Mediterranean-style abode home.
Band co-founder Mike Shinoda is now ready to sell his gorgeous Beverly Hills, CA, villa for a rock-solid $9.5 million. The 7,700-square-foot home has had an impressive number of celebrities as owners.
Shinoda, a two-time Grammy winner, bought the home for $7.4 million in 2008 from actor Tom Arnold, who had purchased the home from choreographer and pop singer Paula Abdul. The home sits on three-quarters of an acre in the tony Mulholland Estates neighborhood, whose residents include model Kendall Jenner, pop singer Christina Aguilera, and “Wheel of Fortune” icon Vanna White.
The mansion takes its architectural cues from Southern Europe with terra-cotta roof tiles and stucco exterior. There are plenty of alfresco dining areas, a koi pond, sprawling garden, pool, and spa. You enter the seven-bedroom, eight-bath home through a rotunda foyer with a double-height ceiling and a curved stone staircase with wrought-iron railing.
The living room features brown-painted walls, large French windows, and a stone fireplace. Not to be outdone, the dining room is lined with gold brocade wallpaper. The kitchen has an impressive checklist of modern conveniences paired with timeless elegance such as a farmhouse sink, glass-front cabinets, and marble countertops.
The spacious master suite is complete with a private terrace and sitting area with fireplace.
Shinoda recently purchased an $8 million modern farmhouse near Encino last fall and maintains a residence in Sherman Oaks.
Shinoda is best known for being Linkin Park’s rhythm guitarist, songwriter, keyboardist, and co-vocalist. He’s also the frontman in his hip-hop-driven side project, Fort Minor. Also an accomplished artist and designer, Shinoda created much of the artwork for Linkin Park’s album covers and merchandise.
