Call it a real estate double play. Legendary pitcher Pedro Martinez purchased a modern North Miami home from another former big leaguer. Property records show longtime Kansas City Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar was the seller.
Martinez and his wife, former ESPN Deportes sideline reporter Carolina Cruz de MartÃnez, purchased the home in August for $3 million.
Escobar bought the place in 2016 for $2.65 million and recently left town to take his talents to Japan and play for the Tokyo Yakult Swallows in 2019. The Venezuelan infielder was thus ready to leave behind his ultramodern home.
For the Hall of Famer, this mansion is quite a catch.

Constructed in 2014, the sleek structure boasts fully upgraded interiors, electric windows, and smart home sound and lighting systems.
The property also includes patios, a pool, and a boat dock.
Located on a quiet cul-de-sac in “one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in Miami,” the home measures 5,022 square feet, which include six bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms.

Now 48, Martinez began his stellar career with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1992.
