It took a little while for Florida Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky to get settled in the Sunshine State, but it looks like the Russian-born netminder is ready to call Florida home.
“Bob” just recently planted a flag in Fort Lauderdale, signing on the dotted line on a gorgeous new spec home. The 6,700-square-foot house sits on a large waterfront lot in an exclusive gated community.
The home also boasts five bedrooms, 5.5 baths, and its own elevator. Ample windows make the Florida sunshine practically an amenity unto itself, and a media room, wine cellar, and heated saltwater pool round out the bright, airy compound.
A new concrete dock extends out over the water, providing amazing views and a chance to get up close and personal with some of the local aquatic life. It’s the best of Florida all in one place, so the allure certainly isn’t a mystery.
And Bobrovsky managed to score a relative bargain. The home initially landed on the market in October 2017 for $6.35 million. It’s had a series of price cuts over the past couple of years, before landing at $4.94 million this February. The goalie managed to snag the place for $4.5 million, and the sale was handled by Troy Hotchkiss with Compass Florida.
Bobrovsky, who recently lowered the price on his former residence in Columbus, OH, is a native of Novokuznetsk, Russia, and was never actually drafted into the NHL. After playing professionally in Russia, he signed a deal with the Philadelphia Flyers in 2010.
The most sought-after goalie on the market when he hit free agency this past summer, Bobrovsky left the Columbus Blue Jackets to sign a massive seven-year, $70 million deal with the Florida Panthers.
