One of the many homes owned by Paul Manafort, former manager for Donald Trump‘s presidential campaign, has come on the market. The Arlington, VA, Craftsman is now available for $2,349,000.
Located just minutes from Washington, DC, the home is part of the Manafort property portfolio, which came under scrutiny during special counsel Robert Mueller‘s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
The political consultant was accused of laundering millions of dollars from his work for a pro-Russia party in Ukraine through luxury real estate, including this restored 3,836-square-foot home built in the 1920s,
After being found guilty of tax fraud and conspiracy, the 72-year-old had been serving out the remainder of a 7.5-year sentence in home confinement in a three-bedroom apartment in Northern Virginia, a document to the court states, until he was pardoned by Trump at the end of 2020.
Now, he’s presumedly free to move about to other homes he reportedly owns, including a lavish Hamptons estate and a Palm Beach Gardens home that he sold to his wife for $10. With those choices at his disposal, he’s parting with this charming four-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom residence in Arlington.
According to property records, the home was purchased in 2012 in his daughter Andrea’s name for $1.89 million—allegedly with funds wired from Cyprus, according to Mansion Global.
The century-old domicile features such elements as oak trim that evokes the 1920s build, while also incorporating thoughtful updates for modern-day living, the listing notes.
The front gate leads to a covered front porch and home surrounded by lush landscaping. The interiors hew to the spirit of the original construction, including built-in cabinets and trimmed pillars, stone fireplaces, and dual staircases.
An open living and dining area features wood colonnades in like-original condition along with eye-catching window trim. The updated kitchen features a farmhouse sink, white counters, high-end appliances, and a reading nook overlooking the patio.
Upstairs are three bedrooms, including the master suite with a walk-in closet and a bathroom with dual sinks.
A third floor offers spaces that have become essential in post-pandemic life, with rooms for a home office, gym, and media alcove.
The home features automation for lighting, sound, and video elements.
Out back you’ll find a custom-built, wisteria-covered pergola. A wraparound countertop provides space for grilling and entertaining, while a custom fire pit and fountain offer a backdrop for alfresco parties.
The property includes a two-car garage and off-street gated parking in the long driveway.
After the Trump pardon, prosecutors allowed Manafort to keep previously seized properties in the Hamptons, a Brooklyn brownstone, and a Manhattan condo, according to Bloomberg.
Manafort also owned a condo in Alexandria, VA, that was foreclosed in April 2019. It came on the market for $3.2 million in September 2019, later selling for $2.85 million. The Palm Beach Gardens home had last been available for rent last year for $14,000 a month and is no longer on the market.
