The action star Jason Statham has placed his midcentury modern home in Los Angeles on the market for $6,995,000, the Los Angeles Times first reported.

As it turns out, when the English actor isn’t being a gruff tough guy in “The Transporter” and the “Fast and Furious” franchise, he enjoys speeding into a renovation.

“It was a complete restoration, and he made it look even better and cooler than it previously was,” says listing agent Branden Williams with Hilton & Hyland.

Built in 1957, the classic home was in dire need of some TLC when Statham snapped it up.

In a feature about the remodel, the 52-year-old actor told Architectural Digest, “I’m always looking for places to either renovate or to buy, to move up the ladder. This one sort of came out of the blue and had a certain charm. It was quite downtrodden and had been neglected, as most of these of midcenturies have.”

It’s safe to say that this home is downtrodden no longer. Statham purchased the property in 2015 for $2.7 million.

He then got to work and tapped architect Jeff Allsbrook of Standard Architecture to transform the tired space into an office, guesthouse, and gym. The remodel—which kept the home’s exterior profile, but modernized the interior—took 18 months, according to AD.

Statham admitted to AD that he didn’t hew to a budget for the renovations, and the high-end details definitely show.

“He’s a perfectionist,” says Williams of Statham’s approach to home improvement. “Everything is perfect. There are no corners cut. No expenses spared. And he does everything to perfection.

“Everything he does is because he loves architecture, he loves interior design. Besides making movies, this is what he’s very passionate about.”

With a mix of cedar-clad roof overhangs and walls of glass, the 3,000-square-foot living space is centered on an indoor-outdoor floor plan.

Inside, light-filled rooms connect with a minimalist interior design. The four bedrooms and three bathrooms include a master suite and bath with a freestanding tub. A private lounge comes with a fire pit.

Sliding glass doors open out to a patio and saltwater pool. And because this is Statham’s former workout space, amenities include a barrel sauna with oversize heater, and a Hoshizaki icemaker with a stainless-steel immersion tub.

Statham is certainly familiar with the area. His first home in L.A. was just across the street. It was also a glass-filled box from the 1950s, and he placed the home on the market in 2011 for a more modest $2.749 million. It sold for $2.7 million, after just two months on the market. He recently sold a home in Malibu, and lives in Beverly Hills.

Statham is known for his laconic portrayals of antiheroes in movies like “The Italian Job,” “Snatch,” and “The Bank Job.” Most recently, he paired up with Dwayne Johnson in the blockbuster spinoff, “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.”

Branden Williams and Rayni Williams with Hilton & Hyland hold the listing.
